Ayurveda = “the knowledge of a long and healthy life”

Perhaps you have come across the over 3,000-year-old Indian healing tradition here and there or already know more about Ayurveda. The special thing about Ayurveda is that it is not just about nutrition or physical health, but rather a holistic healing concept that is based on the interaction of body, mind and soul.

No matter where you stand with your knowledge of Ayurveda, today in this blog article I would like to give you a little insight into the Ayurvedic art of healing with regard to Ritual Cacao and how you can use an Ayurvedic Cacao recipe to restore all of the doshas (constitutional types) within you can bring balance.

The 3 doshas

Let's start with an introduction to the so-called Dosha doctrine. Everything that exists on our earth is based on this basic principle of these three constitutional types. It is said that there are 3 main doshas in Ayurveda: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. All 3 doshas are composed differently of the 5 main elements: fire, water, earth, air, space/ether.

From birth, each of us has one or a mix of several constitution types as the so-called basic constitution. The current state can deviate from the original constitutional type, which is then referred to as a so-called imbalance. In Ayurveda - as everywhere in life - one always strives for balance and equilibrium. If you don't know which dosha is predominant for you, you can take a test on this page to find out: https://www.yoga-vidya.de/ayurveda/ayurveda-test/

Due to its numerous natural active ingredients, Ritual Cacao can have a balancing effect on all 3 doshas and help us find the balance we strive for. I would like to show you in more detail why this is the case using the 3 doshas.

Vata dosha

The Vata Dosha is associated with the elements of space and air. People with a Vata Dosha or a partial Vata Dosha have the characteristics of light, agile, cold and dry. To bring this dosha into balance requires a lot of grounding, warmth and continuity. Ritual Cacao can wonderfully support people with an excess of Vata through its grounding and gently warming effect. In addition, cacao's oily properties balance out the rough and dry nature of Vata Dosha.

EXTRA CACAO TIP FOR VATAS: Use Ritual Cacao as a “fixed” routine and as an anchor in your everyday life to give you continuity and stability.

Pitta dosha

The Pitta Dosha is associated with the element of fire. People with a Pitta Dosha or a proportionate Pitta Dosha carry the qualities of heat, fire and activity. In order to ensure inner balance, it is important to work with cooling and calming elements - whether in the area of nutrition or sport. With the help of the bitter properties in cacao, the Pitta Dosha can be gently balanced. The chocolate in the cacao also has a cooling effect on the Pitta Dosha.

EXTRA CACAO TIP FOR PITTAS: Enjoy the Ritual Cacao cool instead of warm.

Kapha dosha

The Kapha Dosha is associated with the elements of water and earth. People with a Kapha Dosha or a proportional Kapha Dosha carry the qualities of calm, serenity, stability and gravity. For Kapha to be in balance, it is important to invite lightness, fire and lots of movement to counteract the heaviness. For Kapha Doshas, the gentle activation in cacao thanks to the theobromine it contains and the minimal caffeine content has a wonderfully balancing effect.

EXTRA CACAO TIP FOR KAPHAS: Feel free to add an extra pinch of chili or pepper to your cacao ritual.
