Cacao & Essential Oils

Guest post by Helena & Julia

Most of you know and love the deep effects of Mama Cacao. Today we would like to take you on a little journey into the world of essential oils and how we can wonderfully combine them with cacao. Because essential oils not only taste fantastic in cacao, but can also support us on various levels.

We have been working intensively with essential oils in various areas of application for several years, both privately and professionally. When we got to know and love cacao about 2.5 years ago, it quickly became an integral part of our morning routine. At first we only experimented with spices, but soon the idea of combining cacao and essential oils came up. In recent years we have tried out the combination of cacao and oils and have exchanged ideas over and over again. We would like to introduce you to our favorites in this article.
... but first - what exactly are essential oils?

What are essential oils?

The highly potent essential oils are obtained from various parts of plants such as the skin of fruits, flowers, roots, bark, leaves and resins by cold pressing or steam distillation. They carry the concentrated power of plants and, depending on the plant and chemical composition, can support us with various physical and emotional issues.

Among other things, essential oils can support us on a physical level, strengthen our immune system, provide us with energy and help us to relax.

The oils can have a positive effect on our mood, stabilizing and improving it. On an emotional level, the oils can also help us to penetrate within, bringing limiting beliefs and blockages to the surface and letting them go more easily. These powerful plant essences and their spirits can be valuable companions and helpers not only for deeply rooted issues that have been with us for a long time, but also for current emotions.

The application of oils is very versatile and ranges from applying to the skin to ingestion. However, it is important that the oils are 100% pure and free of harmful substances. Especially when it comes to internal intake, quality is of great importance.

We can recommend DoTerra oils for our cacao because they have the highest quality standard.

Let's get to our favorite oils in cacao...

Wild Orange - The oil of abundance

The oil of the wild orange is obtained from the peel and is therefore rich in vitamin C and is an absolute mood enhancer. Maybe you know the feeling that the scent of a freshly peeled orange makes you happy and lets you reminisce about a special experience in summer or at Christmas? :)

Wild Orange is a great oil to support emotional issues related to values. It promotes creativity, inspires abundance, elevates mood and restores physical energy. The oil can help let go of lack thinking or be a support when you are feeling discouraged. It is also particularly beneficial for acute anxiety, nervousness and stress. The scent of the orange alone exudes positive energy and gives a direct boost of energy.

The oil tastes great in cacao! The spirit of the orange almost merges with Mama Cacao and is a wonderful way to start the day.

Affirmation: I feel the richness of my being and know that I am always well taken care of.

Green Mandarin - The oil of the playful heart

Green Mandarin has a lovely and energizing aroma, but does a lot more than just smell super fresh.

On an emotional level, it supports us in saying goodbye to limiting feelings and beliefs. For people who have a lot of doubts, especially about themselves, feel trapped in a hopeless situation and wish to feel more lightness again, Green Mandarin can offer the right support. It also has a stabilizing and clarifying effect, especially on your thoughts.

This fruity essential oil invites us to reconnect more with our inner child. Free and full of joie de vivre. It also helps us to let go of old grudges, sadness and anger. Green Mandarin can also have a calming effect when taken internally. It can also promote digestive function and a healthy cardiovascular system. Our absolute favorite oil for several months!

Affirmation: I listen to my heart.

Cardamom - The oil of objectivity

Cardamom is one of the most expensive spices in the world. It originally comes from Southeast Asia and is used in various cultures to refine food, sweets, tea and coffee. Physically, it can have a positive effect on our digestive and respiratory systems. But the emotional effect is also exciting.

Essential oils extracted from seeds also carry this very essence of pure potential. In this way, this oil can support us in finding and living our true passion. Cardamom can help us release emotional distortions, take a step back and have a more objective perspective. When it comes to anger and frustration, cardamom can show us ways to deal with those feelings constructively. It promotes mental clarity and encourages us to act independently. This makes it easier for us to experience feelings of inner peace, calm and letting go of control. We love cardamom in cacao, especially on cold and rainy days.

Affirmation: I am focused and aware of everything I do.

Frankincense (Incense) - The Oil of Truth

Frankincense - the king of oils - is extracted from the resin of the Boswelia tree and is a powerful, cleansing oil. It's the perfect complement to Mama Cacao, which is said to carry paternal energy. In combination with cacao, this results in a beautiful symbiosis and balance of feminine and masculine energy.

Frankincense can be used wonderfully when part of your spiritual power is still surrounded by darkness that you want to release. It helps to open your eyes and can give you clarity on your spiritual path. The oil lets the walls of your heart "crumble" - which together with cacao, the medicine of the heart, is infinitely powerful - and reconnects you with your inner light. This will help you spot untruths and deceptions that can distract you from living your true self. A perfect companion for spiritual awakening.

Frankincense also has a strong effect on a physical level. It can reduce inflammation, boost the immune system, reduce stress and help with headaches. The list of possible applications is endless.

A little inspiration: Put a drop of Frankincense on your third eye while meditating and/or breathe in the scent from the bottle or your palms. The scent alone opens your spiritual channels and you can connect deeply with the "divine".

Affirmation: I believe in a God who loves me, strengthens me and wants to see me grow. I feel secure in the fatherly power and I know that I am always in the light.

Vanilla - The oil of manifestation and creation

For us, vanilla is THE perfect combination with Ritual Cacao. You probably already know it as a spice and may have tasted it in your cacao. The oil is even more intense, smells and tastes sweet and rounds off the taste of the cacao experience. The oil is extracted from the seeds of the vanilla bean. The peculiarity is the way the oil is extracted. It is not possible to extract the oil from the tiny seeds either by cold pressing or by steam distillation. Carbon dioxide is usually used here to extract the oil. The result is called vanilla absolute and is the pure essence of vanilla seeds.

The oil has an emotionally calming and relaxing effect on our nervous system and can have an aphrodisiac effect. Vanilla can also intensify your dreams at night. When you're about to start over and you're confronted with fears, vanilla helps transform them into anticipation. In addition, the oil can boost your self-confidence and give you a general sense of well-being.

Affirmation: I am seductive, sexy and absolutely gorgeous.

Other oils that can be wonderfully combined with Ritual Cacao:
Ylang Ylang, Lavender, Cinnamon Bark, Cassia

How do you use the oil in the cacao now?

Prepare your cacao as usual and add a drop of the essential oil of your choice to the cacao at the end. The oil should not be heated as well, otherwise the effect of the oil will decrease.

If you are brand new to the oil world, we recommend that you start by "dip" a toothpick into the oil bottle and then stir it into the cacao. The oils are so intense that you should approach them slowly - as we all know, less is more. ;) We decide intuitively each time which oil we use to refine our cacao.

If you want to work on a specific topic, you can of course select the right oil for it and then use it in the cacao over a period of several weeks and also use it aromatically (e.g. in a diffuser or smell it directly from the bottle) and/or topically (externally). , on the skin).
