On August 1st we celebrate the wheel of the year festival Lughnasadh, also called Lammas. As the first harvest festival of the year, it stands for abundance, ripeness, gratitude and connection with nature. Since cacao is a symbol of abundance for us, in this blog post we offer you a Cacao Ritual in which you may recognize, accept and celebrate the abundance in your life.

Cacao Ritual for the Wheel of the Year Festival Lughnasadh

Lughnasadh & Lammas - the 1st Harvest Festival

On August 1st we celebrate the Celtic wheel of the year festival Lughnasadh, also called Lammas. It falls halfway between the summer solstice Litha and the autumn equinox Mabon and is the 8th moon festival of the wheel of the year. Lughnasadh (pronounced Loo-na-sah) is named after the Celtic sun god Lugh and, as the 1st harvest festival, stands for ripeness, gratitude and connection with nature.

Originally, a central element was the grain, which was harvested, baked into bread and shared, symbolizing the cycle of life. This is also where the other name "Lammas" comes from, which roughly means (bread) loaf mass.

The Power of Gratitude and Abundance

It is midsummer and nature is in full bloom. The grain fields glow golden yellow in the sunlight. Dark berries, such as blackberries, blueberries and raspberries, are ripening, and the herbs and medicinal plants have transformed the energy of the earth and the sun into their very own magic. The time of greatest abundance and ripeness has arrived, and with it the harvest. To harvest, one must cut, which is why Lughnasadh is also called the Reaper's Festival.

For us, Lughnasadh is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the abundance in our lives and to harvest the fruits of our work. It's important to celebrate your own successes instead of simply moving on to the next project. Far too often we forget how important it is to pause and be grateful for everything we have already achieved and everything that is already in our lives.

When we move into the energy of gratitude and abundance, our lives feel colorful and vibrant. It also allows us to attract even more abundance and love. Since cacao is a symbol of abundance for us, a Cacao Ritual is of course especially fitting for this wheel of the year festival. For this, we offer you our Cacao Ritual "Inviting the Abundance of Life".

Cacao Ritual "Inviting the Abundance of Life"

  1. Prepare your Ritual Cacao with a lot of love and mindfulness.*
  2. Find a quiet, comfortable spot and make yourself cozy with blankets, pillows, candles and power objects.
  3. Breathe calmly and deeply into your heart and let an intention come to you. This can be something like: "I fill my body with gratitude for everything that is already in my life." You can also look around your room and ask yourself: "What am I grateful for in my home? What do I love here?"
  4. Close your eyes and drink your cacao sip by sip, breathing consciously in and out. Imagine that with every inhale you take in gratitude and joy, and with every exhale you release the feeling of lack.
  5. Ask yourself inwardly: "Which of my visions, wishes and ideas have become reality, where can I harvest the fruits of my work?"
Keep your eyes closed and bathe in the images and feelings of everything you have created and everything that is already in your life.
  6. Also take a moment to bring into your awareness what did NOT work out and why you can be grateful for that too. Life sometimes knows so much better than we do, and in hindsight we understand why certain relationships, projects etc. were not meant to be. This too may be acknowledged and celebrated. In this way we gather more and more evidence that life knows better and that we may trust it.
  7. Then picture a spring. You are standing in this never-ending source of water and receiving everything that is meant for you. Open yourself to the feeling that your life is this source of abundance. Everything is present in abundance, and you may allow yourself to open up and receive it.
  8. Stretch your hands upward and send some of the love you have just received outward - to a specific person, region, or simply out into the world.
  9. At the end of the ritual, give thanks to yourself, the Cacao Spirit and all the forces that support you every day and have accompanied you so far.

After the ritual, you can call a person of your choice and, out of abundance, give them some of your time. Or invite your partner out for a meal. Simply be present, give unconditionally and speak from your heart. This too attracts more and more abundance, as you are generous with your time and your resources.

If you feel the call, feel free to join our free, online Cacao Gathering on August 1st and celebrate the 1st harvest festival together with us.

We wish you a wonderful ritual and a magical summer!

Width Love, Leni
