The Origin of Cacao
Cacao carries a history thousands of years old. Long before cacao became chocolate bars, it was a sacred plant. Revered as the drink of the goddesses and gods, offered at birth, marriage, and death. Over thousands of years, this special fruit traveled through cultures and continents – from the great civilizations of Mesoamerica to the apothecaries of Europe, where it was sold by the gram as medicine.
In 2003, Keith Wilson – later known to many as "The Chocolate Shaman" – began carrying the ancient knowledge of original, ceremonial cacao back out into the world. From there, cacao found its way into a growing international movement and back into our time – bringing with it the plant's original spirit, the Cacao Spirit, along with the knowledge and wisdom of the heart. Heart Cacao
Our HEART CACAO, a Criollo variety, is grown traditionally and organically by small farmers in Piura, Peru. We treasure this special cacao for its aroma of berries and fruit, but above all for its gentle, heart-opening effect – ideal for mindful cacao rituals, meditation, or a conscious connection and mindfulness with yourself. Our Heart Cacao speaks to beginners on their cacao journey as well as experienced ritual facilitators, and creates space for depth, connection, and inner clarity.
Body Cacao
Our BODY CACAO comes from the heart of Peru, between the foothills of the Peruvian Andes and two tropical national parks – where our cacao thrives under organic cultivation. With its full, chocolatey taste, this Criollo & Trinitario blend surprises with a strongly grounding yet activating energy. That's why we love using this cacao for dancing and movement, for yoga, and also for especially deep meditation.
Flow Cacao
Our FLOW CACAO, a Criollo variety, comes from a sustainable tree-planting project by Ecosia.org in Nicaragua, combining ecological commitment with your personal well-being. It has a uniquely delicious hazelnut aroma and an especially velvety mouthfeel. We love using this fine cacao for various meditations, light and flowing movement, yoga, or as a mindful start to the day that gently gets your energy flowing – for more inner balance and harmony. Our AURA CACAO, a Criollo Silvestre variety, comes from Bolivia, from a sustainable tree-planting project by Ecosia.org. This fine cacao brings a wealth of fruity aromas along with a rich, chocolatey taste. The subtle energy of this cacao unfolds not only physically – it gently reaches beyond your senses into your subtle energy field and guides you into deep perception. Our ROOTS CACAO, a Criollo variety, comes from the Sur del Lago de Maracaibo in Venezuela – one of the oldest and most tradition-rich cacao regions in the world, where ancient Criollo trees have lived and given their fruit for many generations. With its full, chocolatey aroma, our Roots Cacao invites you to travel back to your roots and recharge there. We recommend this grounding cacao for moments of reconnection, grounding, and gathering strength.

A Legend
The feathered god of wind, Quetzalcoatl, is said to have brought the cacao bean to the Aztecs on Earth. For Indigenous peoples, cacao was always considered a sacred plant, also used as an offering to gods and kings. The Aztecs, by the way, called their sacred drink Xócolatl – chocolate, in our language. One legend says that cacao is returning to us from the rainforest to open hearts and restore balance on Earth.
