Ritual Cacao & CBD - love of cult plants

Of course, we have already combined our Ritual Cacao with many great things - simply because we are curious and we enjoy it. We came across a study on the effect of cacao in connection with CBD. It also occurred to me that I got chocolate with CBD in Hawaii a few years ago and really liked it. We got a lot of information, talked to a doctor and tested. There were even some rituals where we offered cacao with CBD.

There is no question that both are giants in their own right in terms of their history, their range of influence and their cultural-historical significance. Cacao and hemp are two of the oldest cultivated plants and each have a history that goes back thousands of years. The earliest reports of cacao date back to the Olmec and Aztec 5000 years ago, while hemp was first mentioned in China 2700 years ago.

What is interesting about both representatives is that from the beginning they were used both as food and also had a relevant healing significance. Both are also deeply rooted in shamanic work and are still used today in the form of rituals and as support for meditation and other spiritual practices.

Both plants have been used for thousands of years and luckily are getting more attention. Especially with hemp, science is now providing the hoped-for insights into how this herb works - and explains why the human body is literally holding the door open to the cannabinoids in hemp and its mechanisms of action.

CBD and the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS)

The endocannabinoid system (or ECS for short) is found in the brain and central nervous system of all human and mammalian species. The name derives from cannabinoid and endogenous (arising from within). Its central task is to regulate processes in the body and to counteract imbalances in the individual systems - maintaining the so-called homeostasis, the balance of the individual body systems for themselves and in relation to one another.

It is a kind of switching network for all bodily functions and is instrumental in the development of the brain and synapses. The endocannabinoid system was discovered by scientists in the 1990s when they were investigating the effects of cannabis on the human organism and discovered something amazing. It turned out that the phytocannabinoids contained in hemp are similar to the endocannabinoids - which the body produces itself - both in their nature and mode of action.

The two main types of endocannabinoids found in the body are anandamide and 2-AG. According to the lock and key principle, they dock onto the corresponding receptors and initiate balancing and regulating processes throughout the body. They occur in all 11 physiological systems of the body, which is why the wide range of applications of CBD for a wide variety of diseases and imbalances is not surprising.

Dream couple cacao and CBD - the chemistry is right here

But what happens when these two plants meet? Shall we say when they unite and take the stage in a dance of active ingredients?

Both plants have a wide range of medically relevant ingredients and their respective effects on the human body are diverse. Nevertheless, there are two players that deserve special attention: theobromine contained in cacao (theo; lat = god and bromine broma; lat = food) and anandamide - an endogenous neurotransmitter that receives equal love from cacao and CBD.

The way theobromine works is closely related to the caffeine it also contains. It has a vasodilating and cardiac stimulating effect.

Anandamide, on the other hand, is a neurotransmitter that is prevalent in the human brain and is critical to the homeostasis and proper functioning of the body's endocannabinoid system. Its name is derived from Sanskrit (Ananda = joy, bliss, pleasure) and it is found primarily in the areas of the brain responsible for pleasure, reward, and motivation. It is also relevant as a messenger substance in connection with learning, memory and attention.

Ritual cacao and CBD

CBD prolongs the feeling of happiness when drinking cacao

This is where hemp and its cannabinoids - specifically the CBD it contains - come into play. While theobromine stimulates anandamide production and other ingredients in cacao mimic anandamide and thus lead to an increase in levels, the CBD inhibits the FAAH enzyme, which is responsible for breaking down anandamide. It is therefore not surprising that a high level of anandamide triggers feelings of happiness, focused work and a general sense of well-being, as is described with the consumption of both raw cacao and CBD. In the combination, we have two plants that not only have immense potential on their own, but also provide a new dimension in the interaction with each other for all friends of cacao and CBD.

Is cacao and CBD a good combination?

So when asked if cacao and CBD are a good combination - a clear YES! Not only do they pull together in terms of potentiating each other's effects, they balance each other out and come up with enhanced and longer-lasting effects. But even in terms of their basic quality, as two representatives of the plant world with a shamanic meaning and active ingredients that sound like gods, the meeting of these two is something truly sublime. Whether it's the collaborative, the empathetic, the toasty warm feeling of contentment, the spiritual or the focused work - cacao and CBD are indeed a dream couple.

But how do you prepare your cacao with CBD? We have a little recipe for you.

Annotation:

With regard to the selection of the right CBD oil, it is important to ensure that it is a full-spectrum oil in order to enjoy the full range of active ingredients and the so-called entourage effect. Since each oil, depending on the type of hemp used, also has a different active ingredient profile, there can also be differences in the effect. We use and heartily recommend the full-spectrum oil from Naturu ➚ .
